Join us at Artspace February 17th, from 1pm-4pm for our Sankofa Crafting Circle, led by Zwena Grey!
The Sankofa Crafting Circle offers an opportunity for Black individuals to come together, honor their heritage, and co-create a vision for the future through art and storytelling. By embracing the principles of Sankofa, participants will embark on a journey of self-discovery, empowerment, and collective action.
Event Description:
The Sankofa Crafting Circle is a space designed exclusively for Black individuals to come together, connect, and engage in collective art making. Through paper crafts such as zine making, book binding, and poster creation, attendees will engage in meaningful dialogue, manifestation exercises, and collaborative visioning. Light refreshments will be provided.
This event centers around the concept of Sankofa, a word from the Akan tribe in Ghana which translates to "go back and fetch it." Sankofa teaches us to reflect on the past, learn from it, and use those lessons to move forward with purpose and wisdom.
*Please note this is a closed event for Black individuals, and registration is required.
