Code of Conduct

At Artspace our purpose is to provide a welcoming and accessible space for engagement with the arts where everyone is treated with dignity.

At Artspace we do not tolerate:

  • violence or threats of violence toward patrons, staff, volunteers, premises and facilities, or artwork on exhibition including but not limited to verbal, physical, or psychological harm directed at staff, patrons, volunteers, artwork, or the facilities;

  • deliberate misgendering, using "dead" names, or any other form of disrespect towards someone's gender identity or chosen name;

  • microaggressions including teasing, jokes, actions, or behaviours that marginalize, belittle, or reinforce harmful stereotypes based on an individual’s race, physical appearance, housing status, age, gender, sexual orientation, or abilities;

  • intimidation or harassing behaviours of any kind whether verbal, physical, or sexual;

  • theft or vandalism including removal, destruction, or defacement of artwork, property, or personal belongings.

Please note that the use of illegal substances on site and the consumption of alcohol on site outside of licensed events is prohibited.

These policies are in effect at all times.

Artspace staff and board reserve the right to respond in a way that preserves the safety and well-being of those on-site. In cases where this code is violated, Artspace reserves the right to refuse entry, ask people to leave, or enact temporary or indefinite bans. Staff and board members will determine our response to serious and/or repeated incidents, and the determination of potential conditions for return, on a case-by-case basis.

If you require immediate support, we will be happy to provide you with a list of resources.
