Absynthe Magazine

Absynthe Magazine is Trent University's alternative press. We are a collaborative team of editors who do our best to provide constructive feedback for every written submission we receive. We publish poetry, prose, creative nonfiction, visual art, and anything in between. Absynthe is committed to a collective creative space that is unafraid of breaking from convention, that promotes works that are heartfelt and honest, and that showcases the great imaginative strength of Trent University and the community that surrounds us.

Absynthe Magazine recently welcomed a new director and released its fall issue with a whole new team of editors. This issue is filled with emotional pieces that explore the nuances of racism, sexism, addiction, ableism, and homophobia with vivid imagery and perceptive storytelling.

Winter Issue 2022

Absynthe Magazine’s most recent issue employs a slight change of aesthetic and includes visual art submissions from various local artists. This issue features aethereal poetry that embraces the magic in the world around us, as well as dynamic storytelling that explores complex familial relationships and the harsh realities of our foster care and mental health support systems.
