Mikiki - Port Manteau

After our August summer break, we are reopening the gallery on Saturday September 10th, 12-4pm. Port Manteau will grow over the next few months as artist Mikiki continues to work in the space. Keep an eye out for opportunities to visit while Mikiki is working, an upcoming panel event, and visit us often to see the work as it evolves. We are looking forward to seeing you all again!

Port Manteau is a series of new video and sculpture works by Toronto based artist Mikiki. The work created for Port Manteau follows a self-led research trip, during which the artist returned home to Ktaqmkuk/Newfoundland to reconnect with family and land.

Through sculpture, installation, beading and video, Mikiki presents new considerations on identity, anarchy, loss, and holes.

Port Manteau presents a temporary docking station to consider the expression and preservation of intersecting cultural identities.

Welcome our NEW DIRECTOR!

Call for Community Input
Since starting in July, Jillian has spent her time consulting with community members to learn about what folks want and need in a new Maker Space. Art supplies, workshops, a zine library, and accessible lighting options, are just a few examples of what community members have shared as being important to them!

Do you have thoughts or ideas to share? You can access our community consultation survey at the link below:
