June 7 - August 10, 2024
Guest curated by Lori Beavis
Through their art practices these five Indigenous women explore what it means to hold knowledge, community, stories. And, in so doing, Shelley Niro, Alice Williams, Sandra Moore, Teresa Vander Meer-Chassé, and Dehmin Osawamick Cleland carry forward knowledge, memory, and skill that transcend time, exploring culture, identity, and memory.
Please join us on the weekend of August 3 & 4 for tea and discussion with guest-curator, Lori Beavis and a workshop with artist, Sandra Moore. Stay tuned for details.

Justine-Marie Williams - Research Assistant
We are very fortunate to have Justine-Marie Williams with us as a Research Assistant with the Centre for the Study for Black Canadian Diaspora. Justine's work with Artspace at the centre is focused on recovery of areas of our archive that were lost in the 2004 flooding and consequent destruction of archival records. Her role was liaised between previous Director, Andrea Fatona (now at OCAD U) and our current Artistic Director, Leslie Menagh.
We're thrilled to be working with you, Justine!!!
Kat Murphy - Programming and Community Engagement Intern
We are also very pleased to welcome Kat Murphy to our staff team. Kat is a Trent University graduate with a BA in History and is completing the Museum Management and Curatorship program at Fleming College. They have been acting as Artspace's Archive Intern this past spring as part of the MMC's curriculum.
Kat is very excited about the opportunity to bring together pieces of Artspace's history with current projects; enriching old and new connections in the community while interacting with the public.
Together, Kat and Justine have been carefully combing through archive! 50 years means there is a lot of history at Artspace, and we want to preserve it.
But, there are pieces missing.
If YOU are hanging on to any documentation from Artspace’s history that you can part with (or if you have questions), please contact us at archive@artspaceptbo.ca. We are accepting posters, photographs, oral history recordings, zines, pamphlets, and more!
Thank you for helping us to keep Artspace alive and remembered!

Emma Moore - She/Her
Emma is a freelance artist and mental health advocate working in a variety of mediums. She graduated from the Foundation Design program from George Brown College and holds a BFA in Drawing and Painting from OCADU.
Her work focuses on the ephemeral qualities of nature and botanicals. Throughout her practice she has explored different methods of art making, using tools such as scanography, photography, and site-specific drawing and painting to explore methods of documentation.
Throughout her career Emma has worked with a number of community organizations within the GTA including, but not limited to, Workman Arts ArtCart Program, CAMH Gifts of Light, and Extendicare North York. There, she assisted in the facilitation of art programming and creative outlets for those who have been touched by mental health and addiction. In the past, she has worked in retail roles assisting local artists in expanding their small businesses within a collaborative market setting and providing local artists and makers with advice on art supplies.
As a new Peterborough Kawartha area resident, she is excited to join the local art community and enjoys volunteering at Artspace. As an individual navigating the mental health system herself, she uses her skills and lived experiences to assist others who have been touched by mental health and addiction.
Emma's current focus is creating a welcoming home with her partner, Dan and cat, Maple while expanding her freelance art practice by offering house pet portrait commissions. You can follow along on her art journey on her Instagram (@emmakmooreart) and https://www.emmakmoore.com
