Crossing Paths
Artspace is excited to announce the launch of...

Crossing Pathsa special storytelling project created by Peg Town in collaboration with Jillian Ackert and presented by Artspace.

In celebration of our 50th anniversary year, Crossing Paths has been lovingly developed over a series of months as a re-imagining of archive-building through personal storytelling.

Throughout August 2024, members of the public are invited to take a self-guided tour of selected sites and stories related to Peg's experiences of crossing paths with Artspace in Nogojiwanong/ Peterborough, Ontario. Read more about the project and how to participate below!

Crossing Paths: How To

Crossing Paths presents a number of ways for community members to participate and engage with the stories on this tour:

1. Pick up your map at the GreenUp store or the Market Hall box office, and use it to explore the sites!

All 10 sites are accessible by foot, bike, and car.
At each site you will find a Poster with a QR code linking you to a collection of stories, images, and personal reflections on our website.

2. Participate with the project virtually on our website.

Click here to visit crossing paths on the Artspace website.

We also invite you to share your own reflections and experiences with Artspace by filling out the online form at the bottom of each site page.

There is no right or wrong way to engage with a story, and therefore no right or wrong way to engage with this tour. Visiting every site on foot, reflecting on a single question from your vehicle, looking at a few pictures online, reading the stories on your porch with your favourite cup of tea… the experience is yours to design!

A Note From Peg

Dear Friends,

For over a year, I have been thinking a lot about how often my sense of identity and community have intersected with certain people, exhibitions, and events associated with (Artspace). My thoughts led to walks, bike rides, research, speculation, conversations, and finally, to writing personal accounts of how certain paths have crossed in thematic ways. I hope this project will encourage other people to consider similar connections in their own lives, and perhaps share their stories with Artspace as it embarks on a re-imagining of its archives through multiple interpretations of its 50-year history.

I hope you will take the tour at your own pace, and that our paths will cross again soon.

Wishing you all the best!

~ Peg Town
