Meet with Guest Curator, Lori Beavis over tea to learn more about our current exhibition, ininige / s/he holds.
Lori’s curatorial work, art practice, and research articulate narrative and memory in the context of family and cultural history and reflect on cultural identity, art education, and self-representation. In addition to curatorial work, Lori is an art educator and art historian living and working in Tiohtià:ke/ Montreal. Identifying as being of Michi Sagiig (Mississauga) Anishinaabe and Irish-Welsh descent, she is a citizen of Hiawatha First Nation at Rice Lake, Ontario.
Lori holds a PhD (Concordia University 2016 in Art Education. Her art education and art history research has always been conducted with a focus on women's art-making. In addition to her independent curatorial practice, Lori is the Director of Centre d’art daphne - Tiohtià:ke’s (Montréal’s) only Indigenous artist-run centre.
