Why write fairy tales?
Fairy tales came from oral storytelling and are always being retold and revised depending on the speaker and listener. This workshop will give you the elements and inspiration to write your own fairy tales, examining the essential parts of traditional fairy tales and dreaming up ways to imagine new possibilities. This is your chance to make your own fairy tales and create imaginative new worlds, new witches, new monsters, and the heroic figures who confront them.
This workshop will be offered by Coming Out Rainbows members Derek Newman-Stille and Lisa Trefzger. Derek is a multiply published author and editor who edited the collection “Over the Rainbow: Folk and Fairy Tales from the Margins” and co-wrote the short story collection “Whispers Between Fairies” as well as publishing fairy tales in collections like “Dark Waters”.
