Event: Curator's Talk & Tea

Fairy Tea Set, Wayne Cardinalli

Meet co-curators, Jillian Ackert and Peg Town over tea to learn more about our current exhibition, From the Ground Up: Artists in Practice for 50 Years

Jillian Ackert is Artspace’s Programming Coordinator and is a practicing artist. Jillian holds a Bachelor of Arts/International Development Studies and a Masters in Sustainability Studies with a Specialization in Feminist and Aging Studies.

Peg Town is a long-standing member of Artspace with a perpetual interest in contemporary art practices and ideas. Peg was Communications Coordinator for the artist-run centre from 1992 to 1998, after receiving a diploma in Arts Administration from Fleming College. In 1995, she curated 2 artist residencies and exhibitions at Artspace, David Bateman and Jackie O: The Show She Never Gave, and the billboard project, Here’s Looking At You! by Average Good Looks. Over the past 26 years, while working for a number of other local non-profits and small businesses, Peg has continued to appreciate and advocate for the arts in this community. In 2023, Peg joined the 50th Anniversary Committee at Artspace and also developed and presented Crossing Paths, a storytelling project in collaboration with Jillian Ackert, and with the generous support of the staff team at Artspace.
