Artist Talk and Opening Reception with The Dim Coast
Join us for an artist talk with The Dim Coast, a curatorial and publication entity from artists, Steve Bates and jake moore.
They want to talk about the weather, and the vibrancy of the earth – the commonplace phenomena that inform our everyday actions but also call us into relation with the planet, and specifically this place at the end of the rapids, Nogojiwanong. Learn more about their extraordinary multi-channel sound installation, A Sound That Never Was, featuring sound files authored by a chorus of 14 contributing artists played out in a composition determined by Nogojiwanong/Peterborough’s seismic and meteorological vibrancy at the moment of their selection. The resulting immersive yet distributed sound environment comes from a digital instrument that generates a score writ from software code modulated by weather data and seismic activity collected above and below Artspace.
The artist talk will be followed by an opening reception which will remain open until 4pm
