Goodbye Artspace
By: Kat Murphy
Dear Artspace Community,
This is Kat Murphy, the Programming and Community Engagement Intern. I have been at Artspace since May 2024; it began as a student placement through the Museum Management and Curatorship program where I was responsible for the development of Artspace’s Community Archive before getting hired part-time. With my contract ending on today, March 29th 2025, I just wanted to say a few words.
Getting to be employed at Artspace after school has been a dream come true. The staff at Artspace have been so receptive towards me and I have gotten a lot of opportunities I never would have expected. Since May 2024 I have helped to paint rooms, hang artwork, create new promotional materials (ie. Maker Space postcard), build an Archive, run events, create the webpages for Crossing Paths, assist with Book + Zine Fest (I’m so happy people liked the vendor posts I made), write blog posts, and so much more!
I will miss Artspace so much. Thank you to the Artspace staff for giving me a wonderful place to work. Thank you to the Artspace volunteers for helping out with programming and events; they wouldn't run smoothly without you all. Lastly, thank you to the Artspace community for being so kind and friendly.
All the best,
Kat
PS. I have written some other blog posts so keep an eye out for when those are posted by other staff! Keep reading and keep visiting Artspace.
Here are some photographs from my time here. All of these include projects that I was involved in (and a picture of myself on one of my last days).
It was wonderful getting to be part of all the work being done at Artspace. I am grateful for these experiences.
