We want to hear from you!

Calling all community members, artists, makers, and art enthusiasts!

Here at Artspace, we are starting an exciting new chapter. Over the next year, we will be expanding our current media lab to better serve the needs/visions/and futures of this community– and we want to hear from you!

Presently, our priorities lay in building a more accessible Maker Space, one which can both support individual artists in their art practice, as well as facilitate greater connection, creativity, and collaboration within the greater Peterborough community.

At this stage we are looking for community input around the following questions:

  1. What role does art play for you in this community?

  2. What does accessibility in the arts mean to you?

  3. What if any barriers have you observed or experienced as an artist, creative, and/or  maker in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough?

  4. What equipment do you want and/or need in a Maker Space? (i.e. large format printer, coloring books, paper cutter, collage materials, etc.?)

  5. What role/purpose/function do you want the new Maker Space to serve in Nogojiwanong/Peterborough?

  6. As an artist and/or community member, what resources are you currently accessing in the community? What do you feel is missing?

Thoughts, ideas, or expertise to share? We would love to hear from you! Feel free to fill out the survey linked below.

Jillian will also be hosting coffee hour all month long this August at the Silver Bean Cafe. Let us treat you to a tea/coffee and treat by the river, and we can chat about what matters to you, and what you would like to see in a new Maker Space!

We welcome input from everyone, including but not limited to: emerging and established artists, film makers, craftspersons, storytellers, community members– if this project excites you, then we want to hear from you!

Stay tuned for more ways to contribute!

*Social distancing and masking will be maintained during all in-person meetings (with the exception of removing masks to eat or drink outside, while maintaining safe distance).
